Through graduate coursework in the Berkeley New Media department, I learned more about extractivism (extracting natural resources for profit that prioritizes short-term gain over the well-being of local communities). I was particularly struck by the processes used to extract the cobalt used in our day-to-day electronics.

With classmates, I created a graphic novel with AI-generated images aimed at educating children about cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
